“This is a nicely made sauvignon with good weight, texture and balance. The nose shows fairly lifted and well integrated lemon, fresh dill, apricot and background pine. What an honour to have my 2019 Sauvignon Blanc scored as DISTINGUISHED by world renowned wine writer Jancis Robinson. She is described by Decanter Magazine as “the most respected wine critic and journalist in the world," a sentiment my father Karl J. Kaiser, also shared. Her notes; “Ripe and opulent and obviously Sauvignon Blanc. Lots of substance to this wine. Well done! Green and grassy and its own master. Not a copy of any other Sauvignon Blanc style.”
The latter part of the note is really the highest of compliments, and most meaningful to me, as it reminds me of my father’s winemaking philosophy which was rooted in the authenticity of his wines. He was absolutely opposed to the idea of trying to replicate any wine from around the world. He was a true pioneer who understood that Canadian wines must have their own identity and always wanted his wines to simply be considered on merit and taste.
